On Friday, October 10th, right about dinnertime, I looked out the window and saw a cat jump onto the post of our backyard fence. I panicked at first because it looked like one of our indoor cats. I was afraid that some cleaning people we had at our home had let one of our cats outside. Cats are rarely seen in our neighborhood because we back to a mountain preserve and coyotes are known for attacking small pets. So you can imagine my surprise as I looked a little closer, realized they were two bobcats and started recording from my iPhone. I yelled to Ralph to grab the real camera and we started taking pictures. We watched, photographed and recorded them for about 30 minutes.
Saturday morning I woke up and Ralph told me the bobcat family was back and that he had spent the morning taking more pictures. I thought he was joking until I looked into our backyard where a momcat and her two cubs were romping and rolling around in the grass of our backyard.
The bobcats haven’t been back to visit that we know of, but I’m glad that even a family of wild bobcats know where to find the crazy cat lady in the neighborhood.
