How to turn an ordinary photo into a watercolor masterpiece in 1 minute

I work in the home furnishings business, so I often get the urge to redecorate. The rug in our living room is the perfect example. Much to Ralph’s dismay, I’ve replaced it so many times recently that we still have the last two rugs taking up valuable space in the garage. The problem is, there are so many new treasures that arrive at work that there is always something bigger and better. If you are a returning visitor to my blog, you’ll notice I redecorated here too. Impressive, huh? Can you believe I painted those beautiful watercolors myself? Well…I did, I just didn’t use a paint brush. I used an app called Waterlogue.

The Waterlogue app is available for iPhone and iPad for $2.99 at the iTunes store. In about one minute of your time, you can create a beautiful watercolor of your home, your baby’s nursery, a scenic vacation shot or just about anything you can dream up. Here are a few examples;

Here is another idea! Below I took a mediocre photo of my neighborhood and transformed it into a beautiful gift. This would make for a great housewarming gift. You could also take a photo of a childhood home, a family farm or cabin or even a nostalgic scenic route.

Lastly, this is how I created the header of my new blog design. I took me about 30 minutes to create a one-of-a-kind logo that looks like a hand-painted illustration.
