Time flies when you’re knocked up…

Woah! The past six weeks have gone by fast! I’m in my 28th week of pregnancy and officially in my 3rd Trimester! Our baby boy has gone from the size of a rutabaga to the size of a small cabbage in the last week.

Total weight gain? Me? Not telling! Baby? Measuring in the 95% percentile and 3.7 lbs. OUCH!

Maternity clothes?  I’m wearing a mix, although I still don’t have all that many maternity clothes.  It’s really hot now and maxi dresses are my friend.

Stretch marks? Nope, but I know I’m not out of the woods yet.

Sleep? I’m sleeping pretty well, the thing that wakes me up is trips to the potty and getting too hot.

Best part of my Second Trimester?  Going on vacation to Santa Barbara!  It was a trip I won at work that we turned into a bit of a baby-moon.

Movement?  I can feel him moving all the time, and his kicks and turns are getting stronger by the day.  It’s definitely a cool feeling.

Food cravings?  I’m done with avocados finally. I think I had my fill and now I’m all over the place.

How big is my bump?  I didn’t get any stranger comments about being pregnant until I was just about 25 weeks.  Soon after that while I was on vacation, pretty much everyone I saw commented on my bump, so it’s definitely obvious!  I’m glad to be in the ‘obviously pregnant’ category.

Belly Button in or out?  It’s in and I don’t think it’s going to pop out. Whew!

Wedding ring on or off?  On! My ‘cankles’ have also thankfully gone away since I tripled my daily water intake.

Symptoms?  Backaches but I’ve been getting massages every other week. (Lucky girl!)

Looking forward to? Our 3D Ultra-Sound on July 1st and decorating the nursery.

Nursery Plans? Here they are! I didn’t want a specific theme, just a vintage feel with a soft aqua, reds and whites.

Dear Baby Cayman,

Mommy is 28 weeks pregnant, already! I can hardly believe that so soon, you will make your grand entrance into this big wide world. Mommy and Daddy are SO excited to meet you. I want you to know how much I love your Daddy. We are lucky to have found each other. Your Daddy is a great man and so determined to give you the perfect balance of love and security.  He is kind to me, patient, considerate and loving. He tells me I’m beautiful every single day.

Mommy sings to you in the car and now you kick or roll around to let me know you can hear. The past few weeks your little brain has started developing rapidly and I wonder what it will be like. I hope you have your Daddy’s musical talents and his ability to impersonate anyone.

Your kitty cat Zowie loves you already too. She loves to lay on Mommy’s belly and purr. She even loves it when you kick her in the head. I think she can hear your heart beat. She may try to steal your toys, and vise versa, but I think this will be a good lesson in sharing.

Have fun in there little monkey and we will see you soon, but not too soon…we still have a lot to do!

Love, Mommy and Daddy

  1. Lovely Blog! You always need a smile during the day and your blog will definetely do that! Congratulations on your pregnancy. Is amazing how much you are going to love this little one. Nice to meet you!

  2. Love the update. You look so great! Do you have the Britax B-Agile stroller? If so, I have never seen that color! I am jealous that you can fit into your wedding ring. Mine has been in the safe since week 20.

    • Thank you! I hope the wedding rings stay on these next few days. It’s supposed to be 118′ in the valley tomorrow. No guarantees. I think I would buy a fake one if that happens. Thanks for stopping by!

      • I did get a fake one! Ha. It’s so ugly though but it was all I could find for under $20 at Target. I can’t handle not wearing one. It just feels too weird.

This weather is crazy. Did you grow up here? I am still shocked by it each summer, and this is my fifth one!

      • I couldn’t handle being without a ring either. I did grow up here but lived a few other places as an adult. My family is here, so I moved back. I usually handle summer pretty well, but this year the thermostat is at 73′.

By the way, I’m a little jealous that you’re so far ahead of me with having your nursery done and showers. I feel really behind. I work full time and will to the end, so I’m hoping the nesting bug gives me some energy to get it all done.

    • Oh, and yest, that is the B-Agile stroller – available at Buy Buy Baby or Babies R Us in the champagne color. You can buy it for a little less on Amazon in black or red I believe, but I really wanted the champagne color.
